Dalyan is a unique region in the world with its historical Kaunos
Ruins, Rock Tombs, İztuzu Beach, healing thermal waters, mudbaths
and unique Köyceğiz Lake. Dalyan town has begun to be found during
Border Turks era with the first layouts by the side of the channel
combining Köyceğiz Lake to the sea in 750 after Christ .
Dalyan,
which has very fertile and watery soils, has been formed by Dalaman
Brook’s forming deltas and lagoons at the places where it reaches
Mediterranian and Köyceğiz Lake and then alluviums filling of the
region as a result of the sea’s ebb and flow.
The name Dalyan comes
from the fish plantations that has been founded in those years to
appraise the fish that came and went between the sea and the lake,
and also comes from having made the grey mullet traps amply.
With its famous shiny sands of 7 km. lenght Iztuzu Beach, where
Dalyan Channel meets with Mediterranian Sea, is the place of egg
laying for sea turtles, Caretta Caretta. Caretta Carettas put their
eggs at this beach every year in April, May, June, July ,then go
back to the ocean. With this reason, İztuzu Beach is announced to be
a protection land by the private environment protection institution.
Excavations have been made by Turkish archeologists since 1966 in
archaic Kaunos City whose history goes back to Lycia era, and is
placed on the opposite side of Dalyan Channel. Many archaic works
that have been taken out from this place are being exhibitioned at
Bodrum and Fethiye archeological museums.
Dalyan with its limitless history and natural beauties catches
attention of many celebrities. Among them famous names such as
Dustin Hoffman and Sting in 2001, Donald Sutherland in 1998, Meryl
Streep in 1999, and Uma Thurman in 2004 came to Ekincik Bay by sea
route, visited the region accompanied by our firm's boats and
guides.
Besides the shortly defined features, because of the temperate
climate conditions and comfortable life of the region many foreign
nationals have acquired and are going to continue to acquire
property.
